If you’re planning a trip to Seattle and love the great outdoors then you’re in luck. Seattle is positioned in the heart of some of the most stunning scenery in the US. So what are some must-sees outdoor attractions you need to hit up while in Seattle?
Discovery Park
Discovery Park is probably the closest of all these outdoor adventures to the city of Seattle itself. This huge 534-acre park has a little bit of everything along a 12 miles walking trail. You will see meadows, tall trees, bluffs, beaches, green spaces, and scenic views of Puget Sound. You can also check out the West Point Lighthouse along Discovery Park’s natural shoreline.
Mount Si
Mount Si is a popular destination for hikers wanting to prepare for the much more strenuous hike up Mount Rainer. With an elevation gain of 3,150 feet, this can be a great way to get in shape for more hiking and mountain climbing, but can also be a picturesque getaway for the everyday hiker wanting to enjoy the great outdoors.
Mount Rainer National Park
Speaking of Mount Rainer…
If you have a few days, going and exploring Mount Rainer National Park is well worth your time. This stunning park has several hikes, guided tours, and experiences year-round. You could hike through the huge fields and meadows of wildflowers or go for a snowshoe excursion. Mount Rainier is Washington’s highest peak and is an active volcano. Hiking to the summit is an elevation gain of over 9000 feet and requires vigorous training in mountain and glacier hiking, rock climbing, and mountaineering. But don’t worry if you don’t feel up to such a strenuous task, there are still lots of other stunning scenic hikes and tours available for every experience of hiker.
Snoqualmie Falls
Snoqualmie Falls is great for an easy hike. This 268-foot waterfall is about forty minutes outside of Seattle and offers you an easy 1.4-mile round-trip trail that will take you by the impressive Snoqualmie Falls.
Olympic National Park
For a more diverse hiking experience check out the Olympic National Park. The many terrains and ecosystems of the Olympic mountains include rainforests, high mountain lakes, and Atlantic ocean views.
North Cascades National Park
The North Cascades are the wilder relatives of the Cascades that Mount Rainer is a part of. North Cascades National Park does not have as many amenities available as Mount Rainer National Park, but for the true wilderness explorer, this will be no issue and is well compensated by these beautiful, and wild mountain views.
