Whether you are visiting San Antonio TX or have just moved, no doubt you have heard about the Natural Bridge Caverns. You may be wondering what tour options are available or if there are things there for kids to do. Read on and find out some of what is available at the Natural Bridge Caverns.

Walking Tours

The Natural Bridge Caverns offers two primary tours, the Discovery Tour and the Hidden Passages Tour. The Discovery Tour is the most popular tour and showcases the largest show cavern in Texas. It is well-lit and is only about a 3/4 mile long excursion. The Hidden Passages Tour is a bit more advanced but is well worth it to see some of the hidden beauty of these caverns. Both tours take about an hour to complete.

Adventure Tours

For those wanting to experience caving in a more hands-on way, the adventure tours may be just the thing. Tourists are outfitted with authentic cave gear and a headlamp for an experience meant to resemble what real spelunking and cave discovery are like. Guides take tourists through an undeveloped section of the caves where you will need to crawl and climb to get where you are going. And be prepared to get dirty!

Twisted Trails

For some above-ground fun, try out the Twisted Trails, a huge 60ft high aerial course of ropes and zip rails.

And for the small kids, there is a Twisted Trails Tykes course. This platform and rope course is no higher than three feet and is great for small kids looking for some adventure and fun.

Twisted Trails Climbing allows you to practice your cave climbing skills on a spherical tower, the Jungle Gym, and the Twister.

A Maze

Another above-ground attraction is the huge 5000-square-foot maze. This is a fun place for you and your friends to race to see who can get out of the maze first, passing all the checkpoints along the way.

Gem and Fossil Mining

For the kiddos, there are also gem and fossil mining activities where kids will get to learn how to sift with a sluice for valuable gems or ancient fossils.

For adults and kids alike there is plenty of food, drink, and snack options available so the fun can last all day long.

Christmas at the Caverns

The Christmas at the Caverns event is a spectacular show of the large cavern where carols echo off the high walls and where you get to help Santa round up his reindeer from the maze. With beautiful lit walks and light shows, the Christmas at the Caverns event is one you won’t want to miss.

Discovery Day Celebration

Another special event that happens at the caverns is a celebration called Discovery Day. This event is inspired by the discovery of the Natural Bridge Caverns in 1960 and is celebrated with hands-on, accompanied events to teach about and celebrate caving and underground discovery.

With all the fun and amazing things to do here, you may be looking into apartments near bridge caverns so you can visit them often and take your visiting friends and family to the wonders and fun that await them there.
