World of Warcraft Shadowlands offers a wealth of new content, but it also refines the current levelling system.Shadowlands are waiting for heroes, whose personal strength is sufficient to make reality: in the world of the living and beyond! The developers have tried to come up with interesting new challenges and create unique, exciting content that will test the strength of even hardened WoW veterans. Here's how to get yourself to level up fast with ease.
Choosing Your Expansion In Chromie Time
There is a pretty drastic difference in playtime between the seven expansions. Ultimately, you should play in whichever expansion will be the most fun for you, but if you're looking to save some time and get your character to max level ASAP, some expansions are better than others.
According to Wowhead, the time to hit level 50 in each expansion is as follow:
Burning Crusade - 24 hours
Wrath of the Lich King - 24 hours
Cataclysm - 20 hours
Mists of Panderia - 16 hours
Battle for Azeroth - 16 hours
Legion - 14 hours
Warlords of Draenor - 12 hours
Generally speaking, the newer the expansion is the faster it will be to complete reach max level. If you absolutely want to get to level 50 as fast as possible, settle into the much-maligned Warlords of Draenor and start grinding. There's a pretty good chance these numbers will get rebalanced before Shadowlands and we'll update this guide if anything changes.
In Shadowlands, the 1-50 leveling experience can vary greatly based on what class you’re playing and how new you are to the game.
If you’re brand new to World of Warcraft, you’ll start your Shadowlands adventure in the new Exile’s Reach starting area. Once you leave that area (which happens around the time you hit level 10), you’ll follow the Battle For Azeroth questing storyline until you reach level 50. From there, you’ll start the Shadowlands story.
The good news is that the Battle for Azeroth leveling experience is fairly quick and pretty entertaining. If you really are brand new to the game, you can probably expect to go from 1-50 via the Battle for Azeroth experience in about 20-25 hours. You can reduce that number to about 15 hours by using a leveling assistant add-on and choosing a high DPS class that is able to defeat mobs as quickly as possible.
Experienced World of Warcraft players will have the option of starting new characters at Exile’s Reach or at their character’s designated starting area (unless they’re playing Demon Hunters or Death Knights, which offer unique starting experiences). Once you hit level 10 with your new character, you’ll be able to “go back” to any previous expansion until you hit level 50 and begin the Shadowlands story.
Based on current estimates offered by Wowhead, this is how long it will take you to reach level 50 in each of the available expansions:
Warlords of Draenor – 12 hours
Legion -14 hours
Battle for Azeroth – 16 hours
Mists of Pandaria – 16 hours
Cataclysm – 20 hours
Wrath of the Lich King – 24 hours
The Burning Crusade – 24 hours
Now, those are just estimates, but the important thing to keep in mind is that it’s generally faster to level through post-Cataclysm expansions. In just about every scenario, Pandaria, Battle for Azeroth, Warlords of Draenor, and Legion will offer quicker leveling experiences than Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, and Cataclysm.
If you’re just looking to level up as many characters as quickly as possible, you should absolutely stick to the modern expansions. Through them, you can hit level 50 in around 10 hours if you take an optimized leveling route.
From level 50 to 60 in Shadowlands
Since the new addon Shadowlands, which was released on November 24, 2020, the maximum level jumped from 50 to 60 and brings some changes due to the new zones. For example, your goal is no longer to just reach level 60, but also to complete the WoW storyline at the same time to start choosing your pact.
Also, you’ll have to reach a certain level before you can venture into a new area. Here you can see all the minimum levels for the areas:
Maldraxxus: Level 53
Ardenwald: Level 55
Revendreth: Level 58
So, if you have completed the campaign in the respective area but have not yet reached the minimum level for the new area, you will still have to take side quests or simply beat up monsters to reach it. YouTube team BellularGaming gives you a lot of tips on how to avoid the problem in their latest video:
