Mariah attended Bullard High School, where she was a standout volleyball player and captain of her team. She won several awards, such as the Scholar-Athlete and the Junior League Senior Girl Athlete Award.

She continued her volleyball career at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she majored in sports management and sociology. She played as a defensive specialist for the Rice Owls from 2011 to 2014. She also set a record for the most digs in a single season with 582.

She launched her clothing brand
