Brandi Worley: The Indiana Mother Who Killed Her Two Children Out of Spite

Brandi Worley is a convicted murderer who stabbed her two children to death in their home in Darlington, Indiana, on November 17, 2016. She then attempted to kill herself by stabbing her neck but survived. She confessed to the crime in a chilling 911 call, saying that she did it because her husband wanted a divorce and wanted to take her kids away from her. She was sentenced to 120 years in prison for two counts of murder.

Brandi Worley: The Motive Behind the Murders

Brandi Worley married Jason Worley, a software engineer, for seven years. They had two children, Tyler, 7, and Charlee, 3. According to Jason, their marriage started to deteriorate when he suspected Brandi was having an affair with their neighbor, a 51-year-old man. He posted about his situation on Reddit, seeking advice from strangers. He decided to file for divorce on November 16, 2016 and told Brandi about it that night.

Brandi seemed to accept his decision and acted normally. They went to a dance program for Charlee and had dinner together. She then told Jason that she needed to go to Walmart to buy some pipe cleaners for Tyler’s school project. However, instead of pipe cleaners, she bought a knife and hid it in Tyler’s room.

That night, Jason slept in the basement while she slept upstairs with the kids. He was unaware of what was about to happen.

The Brutal Crime and the 911 Call

Sometime after midnight, Brandi took the knife and stabbed Tyler and Charlee multiple times in their necks, killing them. She then stabbed herself in the neck but did not die. She called 911 at 4:35 a.m. and calmly told the dispatcher what she had done.

The dispatcher asked Brandi’s mother, who was also in the house, to check on the children. She screamed when she saw their lifeless bodies. Her screams woke Jason, who ran upstairs and saw the horrific scene.

“Now you can’t take the kids from me,” Brandi told him coldly.

The Trial and the Sentence

Brandi was taken to the hospital with self-inflicted injuries to her neck. She was charged with two murders. She initially pleaded not guilty and planned to use the insanity defense. However, in January 2018, she changed her plea to guilty and accepted a plea deal to avoid a trial.

Jason was there when Brandi entered her plea. He said she showed no remorse and spoke matter-of-factly when describing her crime.

In March 2018, Judge Harry sentenced Brandi to 120 years in prison, 65 years for one count and 55 for the other. He said that sometimes there is no explanation for murder and that darkness penetrates minds and hearts.

Brandi said nothing during her sentencing. She is currently incarcerated in Indiana Women’s Prison in Indianapolis, Indiana. She reportedly suffers from depression and exists in an unemotional state.

Conclusion:

Brandi Worley killed her two children out of spite and selfishness. She robbed them of their futures and their father of his love. She will spend the rest of her life behind bars for her heinous act.
